Messy Vegan Cook

Tesco considers all new vegan range

When I see the word "vegan" boldly displayed on the shelves of a major retailer, I feel like I can reliably say it's gaining in popularity and acceptance in the public eye. More and more vegan products have been hitting the shops in recent years. While it's sad that pro-cruelty brands (*ahem* Quorn) are still hogging so much shelf space, it's refreshing to see others with an ethical stance gaining prominence.

Supermarket chain Tesco is currently trialling a vegan section in a limited number of stores and online. The Lifestyle Food Fair at Tesco features, in many cases, an entire side of one aisle worth of free from and dietary choice products. It's not all vegan, but there are some star brands not previously available in the UK in the line-up, including beloved American brand Earth Balance.

Please check the list at the bottom of this post to see if a store local to you is involved with the trial and, more importantly, go buy some stuff to support having more vegan products in a mainstream supermarket! If you don't live near a Tesco offering this promotion, you can buy the new vegan range online as well.

Incidentally, what's with the New Malden Tesco Extra playing tropical bird sounds across the front exterior of the shop? Anyone? And how was I the only one pissing myself laughing?

Please note that a few people have said they've visited some of the listed shops below and the selection has been minimal or non-existent, so it's worth ringing in advance before making the trek out.

And don't forget...

...that Tesco now stocks Pudology! If yours doesn't, talk to customer service and they might order it in for you.
