    Sesame Miso Salad Dressing

9 April, 2010 by Kip Leave a Comment

    Sesame Miso Salad Dressing

Sesame and miso get along famously, complementing each other in a way that makes a perfect base for soups, stir fry sauces, and salad dressings. This basic miso salad dressing recipe uses tahini for thickness and creaminess, but a nice sesame oil is just as delicious. The best part? It's probably the easiest salad dressing you'll ever have to make.

And this stuff really does go well with the ol' stir fry. Today's lunch involved broccoli and red onion stir fried in groundnut oil with some garlic, a splash of soy and chili sauces, a few tablespoons of coconut milk, and a splodge of this dressing. But miso enthusiasts, beware: the high heat will kill off all the healthful bacteria in that soy paste.

    Sesame Tahini Miso Salad Dressing

    Makes 75ml (approx ⅓ cup)
    • Ingredients
      • 1 tablespoon white miso
      • 1 tablespoon soya yoghurt
      • 1 tablespoon medium sherry
      • 1 tablespoon veg worcestershire
      • 1 teaspoon dark miso
      • 1 teaspoon tahini
      • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
      • Sesame seeds, to garnish (optional)
    • Directions/Method
      1. Blend or mix all ingredients thoroughly, either by hand or in a small blender or spice mill. Serve on a crunchy green salad, tossing in some toasted sesame seeds for extra nom factor.

A thoughtful read for long time vegans and nonvegans alike, this is one of the best styles of arguing for and discussion veganism I have yet to find. Highly recommended reading.
