    Fiery Vegan Southern Thai Dinner

    12 September, 2019 by Kip

    Head to kippysnacks.co.uk

All information about supper clubs has moved to kippysnacks.co.uk, so head over there for all the details about vegan Thai supper clubs in London.

    Southern Thai Food

If you love incendiary foods that sets your mouth aflame then you then you will love Southern Thai cuisine.

What sets Southern food apart from other regional eats in Thailand isn't just the spiciness, however. The general flavour profile employed involves a blend of spicy, sour, and salty ingredients.

    The Supper Club

This supper club menu is composed of a mostly spicy lineup of dishes, save one milder Hokkien influenced sweet mock pork dish for balance.

This supper club runs in Beckton, East London, in my home. Come along with a bottle of wine or two and try some vegan Southern Thai foods.

    The Menu

    Gaeng Som Saparot Pla

Hot, sour, and salty turmeric laced boiled curry (no coconut milk) with faux fish and pineapple.

    Kua Kling Tao Hoo Het

Herbaceous and fiery dry tofu and mushroom curry. Kua kling is made by slowly toasting the mixture in a pan so that the curry paste amalgamates with the tofu.

    Moo Hong

Phuket mock pork stew. This Hokkien Chinese dish is the only one on the menu without chillies.

    Gaeng Tai Pla

Intensely pungent and funky curry made with fermented faux fish entrails (bean based) with sataw bean (stink bean), long beans, bamboo shoots, and pumpkin.

    Tod Man Pak Dtai

Herbal fried coconut meat patties with kaffir lime leaf.

    Kanom Ko Gati

Glutinous rice dumplings with caramelised palm sugar coconut filling, served in coconut milk.

    Kanom Gosui

Bouncy, sticky, steamed brown sugar sweets with shredded salted coconut.

    Think Like a Vegan Book

A thoughtful read for long time vegans and nonvegans alike, this is one of the best styles of arguing for and discussion veganism I have yet to find. Highly recommended reading.
